Infographics

An infographic is a visual element that usually presents some sort of information (hence infographic). They are designed to present information in an appealing and easy to follow way, and grab attention. They primarily present data (yay numbers), but use images along with their data to make it easier to swallow. They can be presented alone, but in many cases they are presented with an article, in which case they really just provide additional information. An infographic can be used to catch a readers eyes and bait them into actually reading our article, or just be an easy way to present information. They make things more interesting and far more simple. Infographics can definently be used in a school setting, as an accompaniment to a paper, or as an alternative mode of presentation. A good infographic has a good flow (it's easy to read), is colorful, has visual elements (obviously) and simple information presented in small chunks. For readers who just scan, an infographic can be a good way to draw them in. Overall, an infographic adds a more dynamic feature to research and articles.
